    Clint Eastwood

May 31, 1930
Place of Birth: San Francisco, California
Height: 6'2"
Spouse: Dina Eastwood since 1996
Previous Spouse: Maggie Johnson, 1953-1984

Career Accomplishments:
Clint Eastwood got his first breaks in movies such as Tarantula (1955), Revenge of the creature (1955), Francis in the Navy (1955), Ambush in Cimarron Pass (1958). But his first big breakthrough was in the TV series Rawhide. (1959) He became well known across the nation as Rowdy Yates for the 6 years he was in the series. But yet he still found bigger roles. His career set off and made him an international star in Per Un Pugno Di Dollari, Per Qualche Dollar in Piu, and Il Buono, Il Bruttio, Il Cattivo. In these films, he did his own dubbing.
These three movies led him into other great movies. He starred in Where Eagles Dare (1968) with Richard Burton, Coogans Bluff (1968), Hang 'Em High (1968), and also in a musical, Paint Your Sara (1970).
But 1971 appears to be one of his greater years. Playing a hard edge police inspector, Eastwood found a signature role in Dirty Harry (1971). Dirty Harry went on to make sequels such as Magnum Force (1973), The Enforcer (1976), and then The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976). From the 70's to 80's, Eastwoods career seemed to be going up with such films as The Gauntlet, Every Which Way But Loose, Escape From Alcatraz, Any Which Way You Can- which critics did not like, Firefox, and five sequels to the "Dirty Harry" series. But Eastwood's career began to crumble. Back to back, he had 3 bombers in a row; Pink Cadillac (1989), White Hunter Black Heart (1990), and the Rookie (1990). But as we can see today, Eastwood did not let that stop him! in 1992 he directed and acted in Unforgiven, which he earned an Oscar for director, and nomination for best actor.

His big hits of the 90's were In The Line Of Fire, Space Cowboys, Absolute Power, and THe Bridges Of Madison County. In 2004, Clint won an Acamademy Award for best picture, a nomination as best actor, and another best director award for Million Dollar Baby. After this giant triumph for Clint, we was not really seen again in the Film and Acting world till 2008 when he starred in Gran Torino. This film was not only a very inspirational film, but it was also another achievement for Eastwood. In it's opening weekend, Gran Torino grossed at $30 million, makin Clint the Oldest man to reach #1 at the box office. But Gran Torino is Clint Eastwood last acting gig. But he says he will continue directing, and has a Movie coming out in December of 2009.

How Did He End Up In Show Business:

Clint Eastwood was suppose to serve in Korea, but while on leave as a G.I. his plane crashed in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and he had to swim to shore. Instead of being shipped back to Korea, Eastwood was made Boot Camp Swimming Instructor. But he was encouraged to try out acting by two friends in the army, David Janssen and Martin Milner. In 1954 he landed a contract at Universal Studios, where he got B-grade film roles in movies such as Revenge of The Creature and Tarantula. But his contract was dropped when a studio executive decided his adams apple was too big...He did not get his first real break through untill he starred in the TV series "Rawhide" in 1959.

Background & Fun Facts:
Clint Eastwood has been married to two different women, Dina and Maggie. But he has 7 children, with five different women; and two grandchildren. He has been seen as some what of a sex symbol, and once said "I like to joke that since my children weren't giving me grandchildren, I had two of my own. It's a terrific feeling being a father at my age. I am very fortunate." Clint was also in a long term relationship with Sondra Locke, though the two never did get married or have children. But in 1990 after the two broke things off, Sondra sued him for what is said to be a large sum of money, the total was never publically disclosed. And then, she sued him again in 1996 for fraud. Locke also wrote an autobiography about their relationship, and the ups and downs about it called, "The Good, The Bad, And The Very Ugly." In 2002 Clint Eastwood sued Sondra Locke for false alligations in this autobiography accusing him of abusing her and forcing her to have serveral abortions.
Not only is Eastwood an actor and director, hes also a business man. He owns the Inn Mission Ranch in Carmel, CA. And he's a partial owner of Pebble Beach Golf Country Club in Monterey Peninsula, CA. and owns an exclusive Tehama Golf Club in Carmel Valley, CA. The Tehama Golf Club only has 300 members, but a joining fee of $500,000. But Clint Eastwood doesn't stop at just businesses! He was also elected Mayor of Carmel-By-The-Sea in 1986. Running against Paul Laub as a Republican, Clint won 72% of votes. Clint is a very politically smart man and has been active in presidential elections. He was also appointed to serve on the National Council Of The Arts by President Richard Nixon in 1972. He met western star John Wayne at a National Republican Convention in 1968. Eastwood has been rumored as a republican, but likes to consider his political beliefs to be very liberal. In 1992 George Bush offered to have Eastwood campaign for him but declined.
Clint Eastwood also released a few hits in 1962. His first single was Unknown Girl, followed by Rowdy and For You, Forevermore, and his musical career ended with his album Rawhide's Clint Eastwood Sings Cowboy Favourites.

Personal Quotes:
  • "Never trust anyone in an Italian movie. I know about these things. Stay away from special effects and explosives."
  • "I like the liberation view, which is to leave everyone alone. Even as a kid, I was annoyed by people who wanted to tell people how to live."
  • "My involvement goes deeper than acting or directing. I love every aspect of the creation of motion pictures and I guess I've Committed to it for life."
  • "Whatever success I've had is due to a lot of instinct and a little luck."
  • "I've actually had people come up to me and ask me to autograph their guns."
  • "If you want a guarentee, buy a toaster."
  • "I always cry when I watch myself on screen."
  • "People have lost their sense of humor. In former times we constantly made jokes about different races. You can only tell them today with one hand over your mouth or you will be insulted as a racist. I find that ridiculous. In those earlier days every friendly clique had a "Sam the Jew" or "Jose the Mexican"- but we didn't think anything of it or have a racist thought. It was just normal that we made jokes based on our nationality or ethnicity. That was never a problem. I don't want to be politically correct. We're all spending too much time and energy trying to be politically correct about everything."

Why Did I Choose This Person:
I chose Clint Eastwood because I personally think he is one of the best actors of all time. I admire his
acting abilities and the roles he plays. One of my favorite roles he plays was in Gran Torino. I think it's very inspirational, and true to our time today.
Though many people of my generation may not recognize his talent because he's so old, I think he has impacted us with his acting, directing, and political standings.

What Global Influences Does He Have:

Clint Eastwood is a very globally influecing person. His acting and directing has won him over 26 awards in countries other than the U.S. Not to mention the 100's of awards he's been nominated for world wide. His movie career has influenced everyone around the world.
