Career Accomplishments-
Being known as the 13th most wealthiest woman in all of Britain (having more money than even the Queen), J.K. Rowling obviously is very successful in her career as an author of numerous best selling books. She started off her job life being an English teacher at a school in Northern Portugal. She would often wake up early, before work and stay up late hours writing a fantasy filled noved called "Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone." (Later changed to Harry Potter and the Socerers Stone). After much determination and hard work, she finally got her first book published.

After the book had been out for a while she started to take in the money, which she was making from selling the book. As soon as she was able to support her and her one daughter with the money she was making from selling the book, she gave up her teaching job to fully fulfil her dream of being a full-time writer. The Harry Potter series, finished as of December 8th, 2009, is made up of seven different books, each book winning numerous awards. Books one through six have been made in to films, all ranging from $77,000,000 to $104,000,000 within their first weeks in theaters. The last book will be made into a film as well, but in two different parts due to the length and importance of the last book. Writing this series seems to be the driving force of her successful career.

Influences-
Mythology- "I've taken horrible liberties with folklore and mythology, but I'm quite ashamed about that, because British folklore and British mythology is a totally bastard mythology. You know, we've been invaded by people, we've appropriated their gods, we've taken their mythical creatures, and we've soldered them all together to make, what I would say, is one of the richest folklores in the world, becuase it's so varied. So I feel no compunction about borrowing from that freely, but adding a few things of my own."
Some authors that have influenced Joanne are:
CS Lewis
TH White
E. Nesbit
Star Wars

Why I Chose J.K. Rowling-

In recent years the books and movies of Harry Potter have become more and more popular. With anticipation high for the last two movies to come out (both from the last book), J.K. Rowling has become more popular than ever. Over the last summer I recently read a few of the Harry Potter books and enjoyed all of them very much.
